Iva Nichols was promoted to director of Presidential Events within the Office of the President at the University of Miami in November 2023, having previously served as manager of Presidential Events since September 2021. In her current role, she leads the planning and execution of highly visible campus activities to raise the profile of the university, as well as the coordination of external social functions to develop the university’s relationship with government and institutional partners.

Prior to joining the Office of the President, she served in the University’s Athletic Department as Associate Director of Event Operations & Facilities from May 2017 – September 2021 overseeing the athletic department’s home athletic games, meets, and matches for their Division I teams.

Aside from enthusiastically representing and serving the University at strategic gatherings, Iva is active in local organizations and values the importance of building community. Iva is a board member of the Junior Orange Bowl Committee and serves as Chair of the Junior Orange Bowl Holiday Parade.

Iva graduated with her Master of Science degree from the University of Miami in May 2020 with a degree in Sport Administration where she was the Harry Mallios Most Outstanding Graduate Student in the program. She quarterly speaks on a panel to prospective students that wish to pursue a degree in the same program. She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from North Carolina State University in December 2016.
