Carolyn Newton is Specialist in Global Strategy & Visibility and Aide to the Vice-Chancellor at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, where she works on global engagements and special projects, as well as heading a team that focuses on raising the international profile of UCT, particularly its research.
Earlier on, she worked at the Research Office of the University of Cape Town as Manager of Global Strategy and Visibility and Communication and Marketing Manager; and as Head of Sociology and Director of Studies at d’Overbroeck’s College Oxford.
Carolyn has also developed an intensive professional career as writer, editor and researcher, producing a wide range of freelance work, mainly in academic publishing, including project management, technical editing, copyediting, research and compilation; at companies such as Routledge, Clinical Publishing, the Nuffield Trust, and Helicon.
She holds a B.A. in English and Drama from the University of Cape Town, a B.A. in Journalism Cum Laude from Stellenbosch University, and an M.Phil. in Criminology Proxima Accesserunt from Cambridge.
