Dr. Fadlo R. Khuri is the President of the American University of Beirut (AUB) since 2015 and professor of Hematology and Medical Oncology. Under his leadership, AUB has formed partnerships with peer universities in Lebanon and around the world, including Emory University, John Hopkins University, and University College London.
Prior to that, he was professor and Chairman of the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology and Executive Associate Dean for Research of the Emory University School of Medicine. He also served as Deputy Director for the Winship Cancer Institute, and was part of the faculty of the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Dr. Khuri is an elected member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation and the Lebanese Academy of Sciences, as well as a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Additionally, he has served as editor-in-chief of the journal Cancer and as a permanent member of peer review committees for the American Cancer Society, American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the National Cancer Institute.
He has received several major awards, such as the Nagi Sahyoun Award of the Middle East Medical Assembly, the Richard and Hinda Rosenthal Memorial Award from the American Association for Cancer Research, the Arab American High Achievers Award by the Alif Society, and the WHO Award.
