Lucía Figar has spent most of her life working in the public sector. After finishing her BA in Business Administration and Economics from CUNEF in 1998, she held positions in the Staff of the Presidency of the Government of Spain and the European Parliament in Brussels.
In 2002, Lucia was appointed Secretary for Social Affairs, with overall responsibility for the social services portfolio. She later became the Regional Minister of Education for more than 8 years in the Regional Government of Madrid, where she was responsible for a system comprised of 3.500 schools and 14 universities, with an overall budget of 5 billion euros; until 2015 when she joined IE University. As Chairwoman of Corporate Innovation at IE University, Lucia leads several education and technology initiatives on Campus. She obtained her Global Executive MBA from IE Business School in 2016. She is also President and CEO of The Global College; Program Director for the enlightED Conference; and member of the Telefonica Foundation Board and several other boards in the Ed-Tech sector.
