Professor Tassew was born in 1964 and graduated from Ambo Institute of Agriculture of Ethiopia in 1982. He has got PhD in Household Economics from Wageningen University, The Netherlands in 2000, MSc Degree in Agricultural and Environmental Economics and Policy with distinction from Wageningen Agricultural University, The Netherlands (1995), and BSc Degree in Agricultural Economics with great distinction and Chancellor’s Medal from Alemaya University of Agriculture (1991), Ethiopia. Moreover, he earned a Diploma in General Economics from the Netherlands Network of Economics, The Netherlands (1996) as part of his PhD. He also earned a Diploma in Cooperative Management and Accounting from Ardiata Cooperative Institute, Ethiopia (1984).
Professor Tassew Woldehanna is active in research having institutional and national significance. He is a development economist mainly interested in labour market, employment, fiscal incidence, child welfare and poverty as well as micro and small-scale enterprise development, entrepreneurship and food security.
